Nestled in the heart of Brooklyn, Bamboo Garden offers an authentic and sumptuous journey into Chinese cuisine, with a special emphasis on traditional dim sum and fresh, flavorful seafood. This beloved restaurant at 6409 8th Ave is a treasure trove for food lovers seeking an expansive menu that brilliantly showcases the diverse textures and flavors of classic Chinese fare.
From the moment you step inside, Bamboo Garden welcomes you with a spacious, inviting atmosphere that strikes a perfect balance between comfortable intimacy and a lively dining buzz. Unlike many dim sum spots where tables are crammed together, here you’ll find room to relax and savor every bite, making it an ideal setting for family dinners, special celebrations, or casual meals that linger with warm memories.
The culinary highlight is unquestionably their expertly crafted dim sum selection. Steamed shrimp dumplings burst with juicy, tender seafood while the Cha Siu Bao (barbecue pork buns) offer pillowy softness wrapped around sweet-savory pork that melts in your mouth. The cute pig-shaped custard buns and the irresistibly fluffy custard pineapple buns—praised by customers like Emily—are almost too charming to eat, yet utterly addictive in taste.
Seafood enthusiasts will be spellbound by delicate dishes like the sautéed Dungeon crab with salty egg yolk and minced garlic, delivering a perfect harmony of creamy richness and sharp aromatic notes. Pan-fried noodles with lobster combine a satisfying crunch with luscious seafood flavors for a truly memorable bite. The restaurant also excels in traditional Chinese classics such as Peking Duck 北京片皮鸭 with crispy skin and tender meat, as well as savory Chinese broccoli in oyster sauce, which provides a refreshing balance with its vibrant green crispness.
For those seeking something rarer or more refined, Bamboo Garden offers luxurious specialties such as braised abalone in various preparations, coast-to-coast and ocean-to-table fresh seafood casseroles, and an exquisite selection of double-broiled bird's nest soups, showcasing the kitchen’s dedication to both tradition and luxury.
Many guests, including Evan Yee, have shared how Bamboo Garden’s bustling yet efficiently managed dining experience ensures that plates arrive hot and fresh, even at peak times. The attentive service is often highlighted, with friendly staff patiently guiding newcomers through the menu, enhancing the experience and making everyone feel welcome—from dim sum novices to seasoned connoisseurs.
Whether it’s the comforting warmth of a West Lake minced beef soup, a fragrant crab meat soup with fish maw, or the crispy, golden sesame balls serving as the perfect sweet finish, every dish reflects a meticulous craft combined with fresh, quality ingredients. Expect your palate to be tantalized by layers of flavor and skillful preparation in every bite.
Bamboo Garden is more than just a restaurant; it’s a celebration of Chinese culinary artistry nestled in Brooklyn’s vibrant food scene. Its ability to consistently deliver memorable food and thoughtful service makes it a dining destination worth returning to again and again.
This is by far my favorite Dim Sum Restaurant in NYC. Even when packed we rarely wait long if at all. Because of the quick turnover the food is always hot and fresh, especially at the busiest of times. My wife and I considered having our wedding here and still talk about how awesome it would’ve been.
Went here for a wedding this past weekend. The food was DELICIOUS! Oh man, I think I'm still full. The servers were incredibly attentive, and since it was my 1st time at a Chinese restaurant like this, they took the time to explain each food to me. I was greatly appreciative of that.
Good food with Great service, end up with great happy friends
Nice place for family dinner. The tables are not tightly packed like other Chinese restaurant. The food is good but not 5 star good but good enough. Service is bit slow but they were very nice.
Great for dim sum. Very yummy and had cute pig custard buns. The best things was the custard pineapple bun and the pork ribs! Other dishes were good too. Very busy, lots of food. However WARNING TO ALL PEOPLE ALLERGIC TO SHRIMP THE PEARL MEATBALL (meatball with red/white rice on top) HAS SHRIMP
Extravagant & remarkable Invited to partake in a fanciful dinner for 8 inside a vip room. The venue itself exudes a bit of grandiosity as you walk past chandeliers & exquisite murals. This is a popular spot for dim sum on weekends but also a favorite for dinner celebrations. Our Caymus 2015 vintage from Napa Valley exploded us with delight after it was decanted for 30 minutes. PROS 1) dazzlingly entrees 2) upscale dining in vip rooms available 3) fresh ingredients & high quality 4) BYOB 5) very accommodating in all aspects CONS 1) the staff could have checked on our needs more often
This is our regular Dim Sum spot. Best to go early in the day to avoid the crowds. If you head there for weekend at 11am-2pm expect it to be very crowded. The dishes are very good. But if you go during busy times it can be stressful.
